ReD Global is a full-time, 120-ECTS joint master examining how religion, culture and society interact in a globalised world. The ReD Global Consortium is led by the University of Groningen and brings together European and Latin American partner universities.
Students begin in Groningen, spend semester two in Córdoba or Coimbra, and then choose a research route at a partner university or a professional route with an internship. The fourth semester is devoted to a thesis and either a PhD proposal or policy paper.
Benefits & funding
- The 2027–2029 cohort is self-funded; no Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available for this intake.
- Annual participation fees are EUR 5,000 for EU/EEA nationals and EUR 10,000 for non-EU/EEA nationals, payable in four instalments.
- Fees cover enrolment, tuition and full insurance, but not accommodation, living, travel, mobility, visa or additional insurance costs.
- Graduates earn 120 ECTS and a double degree from their first- and second-semester European host universities.
Eligibility
- Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Arts or Social Sciences; applicants from another field must show at least 30 ECTS in these or directly adjacent disciplines.
- The degree must be comparable in level to a University of Groningen bachelor’s degree and demonstrate research competence.
- Bachelor-year-two and year-three grades should average at least 7.5 on a 10-point scale, and thesis quality is important.
- The application requires official proof of English proficiency or proof of an accepted exemption.
- No nationality, residence, age, gender or work-experience requirement is stated.
