Reliance Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships

Benefits & funding

• Up to INR 600,000 (6 lakh) in total across the master’s degree, paid each year by direct bank transfer.
• 80% of each year’s funds arrive at the start of the academic year for tuition and direct academic costs, including deposits already paid.
• The remaining 20% is released on request for professional development such as conference attendance, against receipts and certificates.
• Renewed every programme year while you stay in full-time study in an eligible subject and keep a GPA of 7.5/10 or equivalent.
• Other academic stipends, such as a GATE stipend, are allowed up to INR 15,000 per month.
• Leadership and soft-skills workshops, expert interactions and mentoring, volunteering, scholar events, and free membership of the Reliance Foundation Scholar and Alumni Community.
• No fee to apply or to sit the aptitude test.

Eligibility

• Resident Indian citizens only; OCI cardholders and non-resident Indians (NRIs) cannot apply.
• Enrolled in the first year (2026–27) of a regular, full-time postgraduate degree at any institute in India; programmes abroad do not qualify.
• Eligible degrees: M.E., M.Tech, M.Tech (by Research), M.Sc., M.Sc. (by Research), MCA and M.Pharm.
• Eligible subjects: artificial intelligence, computer science, mathematics and computing, electrical and electronics, mechanical, chemical, renewable and new energy, materials science and engineering, and life sciences. The FAQ appendix lists the named programmes in full.
• Academic bar: a GATE 2026 score of 550–1,000, or an undergraduate CGPA of 7.5 or above (percentage ÷ 9.5).
• Not eligible: integrated M.Tech–PhD, online, distance and part-time programmes, second-year students, and deferred offers.
• One application per person; past Reliance Foundation undergraduate scholars may apply.
• No family income limit. Extra consideration may go to applicants from underprivileged backgrounds and students with disabilities.

Application process

   Pass the eligibility questionnaire on the scholarship website; no exceptions are made if you fail it.

   Register, then log in to the application portal with your mobile number and a one-time password.

   Complete the form (about 2–3 hours, savable) and upload documents: photo, permanent address proof, CV, Class 10 and 12 marksheets, proof of enrolment, and a GATE marksheet and work certificates if relevant.

   Write two essays of up to 4,000 characters each. Register two referees, one academic and one character, who upload signed letters on letterhead or with an institutional stamp.

   Book an aptitude test slot when you submit. The remotely proctored test has 60 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes across verbal, analytical and numerical ability; your application is complete only after the test.

   Shortlisted applicants go through document verification and an interview of about 30 minutes by video call, in English.
