Queer Youth Advocacy Retreat — Course / Training

Camp Unirondack runs this annual weekend retreat at its camp in Beaver River, New York. It brings together high-school-aged Queer and Trans leaders, advocates, organizers, school-club members, and aspiring allies interested in LGBTQIA+ justice.

Participants choose from interactive workshops and presentations, join youth-centered discussions, and take part in camp activities such as art, music, games, campfires, and boating. A 2027 edition is confirmed, but its dates and registration window are not yet published.

Benefits & funding

The participation fee uses a sliding scale that can be reduced to zero.
A free shuttle from Albany, New York, is available and can be requested through the QYAR registration form.
The weekend includes educational workshops, facilitated discussions, outdoor activities, and opportunities to connect with peers and mentors.

Eligibility

Applicants must be high-school-aged; the 2026 calendar specified ages 14 to 18.
The retreat welcomes youth interested in LGBTQIA+ justice, including Queer and Trans youth leaders and aspiring allies.
