Purpose Earth is a global grant and mentorship program that backs grassroots leaders turning ideas into world-changing projects. Funding is channeled into three areas: environmental protection, community activation, and cultural collaboration. Recipients receive a cash grant of between US$2,000 and US$10,000, are paired with a volunteer mentor for personalized guidance, and get a dedicated project page and digital promotion on the Purpose Earth website. To date the program reports having awarded over US$572,000 to 64 projects across 35 countries. Both individuals and organizations anywhere in the world may apply, with a short list of excluded locations.

Benefits & funding

  • Grant of US$2,000 to US$10,000 per selected project (paid in two installments).
  • One-on-one mentorship from a volunteer with relevant professional experience.

  • Note: funds cannot be used for operational or overhead costs, salaries, travel, capital campaigns, sponsorships, or conferences.

Eligibility

  • Open to individuals and organizations worldwide, regardless of age or education level.
  • The project must fall within environmental protection, community activation, or cultural collaboration.
  • The project must not already be completed; it must be active or planned.
  • One submission per person or organization; the ask may not exceed US$10,000.
  • Applications must be completed in English and must not be AI-generated.
  • Applicants based in the following locations are not eligible: the Balkans, Burma (Myanmar), Iraq, Iran, Russia, Yemen, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, the West Bank, Ethiopia, Sudan, DR Congo, Libya, Mali, and Venezuela.

Application process

    Review the guidelines on the Purpose Earth “Apply for a grant” page.

    Prepare a detailed budget breakdown showing how each portion of the grant would be spent.
  3. 3
    Secure one reference letter, dated within the past year, from someone who has worked directly with you.

    Record a video of no more than one minute explaining the project vision and the impact the grant would have.
  5. 5
    Complete and submit the online application form (submissions cap at the first 200 fully-completed applications).
