Benefits & funding

• A monthly stipend is provided during the scholarship period.
• Health-assistance insurance in Spain covers illnesses not contracted before the scholarship begins.

Eligibility

• Applicants must be permanent, non-temporary public officials or public employees, including staff in public education and public universities.
• Eligible citizenships are Angola, Algeria, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Chad, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Palestine, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.
• Applicants must hold a Licenciado or Grado qualification and already have admission to an eligible master’s program for 2026–2027 when applying.
• The master’s must be an official, in-person program at a Spanish university and carry no more than 60 ECTS.
• Applicants need authorization from their hierarchical superior to study abroad.
• Applicants must prove Spanish proficiency, except citizens of Equatorial Guinea, or prove proficiency in the master’s teaching language when it is not Spanish.
• The accessible current pages state no age, gender or quantified work-experience threshold.

Application process

   Confirm that the citizenship, permanent public-employment and degree requirements are met.

   Obtain admission to an eligible Spanish master’s program and authorization from the relevant hierarchical superior.

   Register through the Citizen Folder and submit the scholarship application electronically via the AECID Electronic Office.

   Include proof of the required language proficiency and the other evidence requested in the electronic application.
