The Fondation Arthrose created the Prix Jean Henrotin in 2017 and awards it each year to a young researcher doing fundamental or applied research on osteoarthritis.
Applications run through the Fondation Léon Fredericq’s yearly call for associated-foundation prizes in Liège, and the prize is handed over at that foundation’s awards ceremony.
Benefits & funding
- Up to €2,500, paid into the account of the winner’s lab or department, not to the person.
- For research running costs or small equipment, or as travel funding to attend an osteoarthritis congress.
- The winner must credit the Fondation Arthrose in publications, give a talk at a foundation event, attend its prize evening and file a short report; breaching these can mean repaying the prize.
Eligibility
- Under 35 on the application deadline.
- Holds a university degree.
- Works in a lab or department of CHU de Liège or the University of Liège, both when applying and when the funds are released (1 January 2027 in the last round).

- Projects that need ethics approval are funded only after a favourable committee opinion.
- No nationality or residence rule is stated.
