The PhD Fellowship supports high-achieving doctoral students at United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain. It is open to all nationalities and funds four years of full-time study and research in specified UAE priority sectors.
UAEU offers a full package and a basic package, both subject to budget availability and competitive selection. The latest published PhD admission cycle closed on 30 April 2026, and UAEU has not yet published the next cycle dates.
Benefits & funding
- The full package includes a full tuition waiver, a monthly stipend, and health insurance if needed.
- Full-package recipients may receive up to AED 3,000 from a supervisor’s external research project or up to AED 2,000 from an internal research project.
- The basic package includes a full tuition waiver and health insurance if needed; optional teaching or administrative assistant work may pay up to AED 4,000 for up to 20 hours per week, subject to availability.
- Both packages have a four-year duration, and all awards depend on available budget.
Eligibility
- Applicants of all nationalities may apply.
- Applicants need a Master’s GPA of at least 3.3 out of 4.0 and must meet UAEU PhD admission requirements.
- Applicants must have no employment or other financial sponsorship.
- The proposed dissertation must fall within renewable energy, transportation, health, water, technology, or space.
- Award holders must study full time, remain available at UAEU, and commit at least 40 hours per week to courses or research.
