The OECD Internship Programme places students inside the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development — the Paris-based international body, founded in 1961, that produces policy research and standards across more than 100 countries. Around 700 interns are recruited every year to support the OECD’s directorates and corporate services, working alongside experts from 38+ member and partner countries. Interns contribute to policy research, analysis and advice (in areas from economy, tax and trade to AI, environment, health and education) or to corporate functions such as communications, legal, IT and translation. The base is the Paris headquarters, with smaller numbers hosted at regional centres. It is a hands-on, time-limited placement aimed at students currently enrolled in a degree, not at graduates.

  • Monthly contribution to living expenses of €1,000 for interns based in Paris (the OECD can pay to accounts inside or outside the Eurozone).
  • 2.5 days of leave per month when the internship is longer than 2 months, plus the public holidays observed at the duty station.

  • Note: this is a contribution to living costs, not a full salary — interns cover the remainder of their own expenses.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in a full-time accredited degree programme (Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD) for the entire duration of the internship, in a field related to the OECD’s work; graduates who are no longer enrolled are not eligible.
  • Available for a minimum internship duration of one month.
  • Excellent command of one of the OECD’s two official languages (English and French) and a working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the other; other languages are an advantage.
  • Good quantitative and IT skills, strong drafting and communication skills, and comfort working in a multicultural team.
  • Open to all nationalities: internships are primarily allocated to nationals of OECD member countries, but are also open to non-member-country nationals for specific programmes and projects (including OECD-affiliated bodies such as the IEA, NEA, FATF and ITF). No nationality is barred, and no age or prior-experience requirement is set.

Application process

    Apply online through the OECD careers website, attaching a CV and a tailored cover letter, and select up to three areas of interest; indicate your earliest availability date.

    The Internship Office pre-screens applications and hiring teams source candidates; shortlisted applicants complete an interview and/or a written test.

    Selected candidates receive an internship offer and sign a Memorandum of Agreement.
