Italy’s Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI) award 100 one-year scholarships to students holding international protection obtained in Italy. The money comes from the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (FAMI 2021–2027).
Winners study a bachelor’s, master’s or single-cycle master’s degree at a CRUI member university, which receives and provides the scholarship. The 2025/26 call closed on 10 August 2025; no 2026/27 call is posted yet.
Benefits & funding
- A lump sum of €7,072.10 for 2025/26 (the national minimum for off-site students), plus 15% with an ISEE of €13,974.30 or less.
- Paid through the university towards study tools and services, on the same terms as right-to-study scholarship holders.
- One academic year; holders can reapply the next year if they meet the credit target.
- Cannot be combined with any other right-to-study scholarship under Legislative Decree 68/2012.
Eligibility
- Holders of international protection obtained in Italy: refugee status, subsidiary protection, or temporary protection for Ukrainian citizens.
- New students: enrolling for the first time in 2025/26 in a bachelor’s, master’s or single-cycle master’s at a CRUI member university, with no earlier enrolment in such courses in Italy.
- 2024/25 holders: continuing the same course, or moving from a bachelor’s to a master’s, with the minimum credits (CFU) for their year, from 15 to 150, by 10 August 2025.
- Asylum seekers enrolled in 2024/25 who gained protection by the deadline: no credit minimum.

Application process
- 1Contact the university you plan to join to confirm you can enrol there.
- 2Fill in CRUI’s online application form by 10 August 2025, 23:59.
- 3By the same deadline, email copies of your Italian identity document and Italian protection document to refugees@crui.it.
- 4Complete enrolment by 15 October 2025; the award stands once the university confirms it.
