The McCall MacBain Scholarships are Canada’s leading comprehensive, fully funded graduate scholarships, based at McGill University in Montreal. Each year up to 30 full scholarships (about 20 for Canadians and 10 international) plus around 100 entrance awards support outstanding students pursuing a master’s or second-entry professional degree at McGill. Beyond funding, scholars join an interdisciplinary leadership program built around mentorship, executive coaching, seminars and summer experiences, and choose from over 150 master’s programs and three professional programs (Law, Dentistry, Medicine).
Benefits & funding
- Full tuition and fees for the normal duration of the chosen master’s or second-entry professional degree (minimum 45 credits).
- Living stipend of CAD $2,300 per month during academic terms.
- One-time relocation grant to move to Montreal.
- Up to CAD $5,000 in summer funding for meaningful research or impact work outside academic terms.
- French language courses (beginner to advanced) through McGill.
- Leadership program: a matched mentor, an executive coach, academic advisors, annual summer intensives, bi-weekly seminars, field trips, and second-year place-based learning travel across Canada.
Eligibility
- Open to applicants of any nationality. Canadian citizens, permanent residents and those with accepted refugee status apply as Canadian applicants; everyone else applies as international applicants (the two streams follow different endorsement processes).
- Must meet one of: currently on track to earn a first bachelor’s degree by August 2027; earned a first bachelor’s degree in January 2021 or later; or earned a first bachelor’s degree before January 2021 and was 30 years old or younger on 1 January 2026.
- Must meet the minimum degree and English-language requirements for admission to a McGill master’s program.
- No general age limit — current students and recent graduates of any age are welcome, subject to the bachelor’s-degree timing criteria above.
Application process
- 1Submit the McCall MacBain Scholarship application through the official portal between June and September 2026 (international deadline 19 August 2026, 4:00 PM Eastern; Canada and United States deadline 23 September 2026, 4:00 PM Eastern).
- 2Apply separately to your chosen McGill master’s or professional program; semi-finalists attend regional interviews (October–December 2026).
- 3Around 85 finalists attend final interviews in Montreal in March 2027; selected scholars begin studies in September 2027.
