Benefits & funding

• Full tuition fee waiver for the standard two-year programme.
• A €1,400 monthly allowance covering living and accommodation costs, health insurance, installation costs, indirect travel costs and tuition fees.
• A round-trip economy ticket to Belgium, including necessary local flights, plus return travel to the country of residence at the end.
• Ten scholarships are available for the Master of Food Technology within a 50-scholarship allocation across five programmes.

Eligibility

• Applicants must be nationals of one of these listed countries: Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Guinea, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Niger, Palestine, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam or Zimbabwe.
• At application, applicants must also reside in one of those listed countries, though their country of residence need not match their nationality.
• Applicants must be no older than 35 on 1 January of the intake year.
• Applicants need an academic Bachelor of Science in a related discipline from a recognised institution, at least a second class upper result or equivalent, and transcript-based preparation in mathematics and statistics, physics and engineering, chemistry and biochemistry, and biology and microbiology.
• Unless exempt through a qualifying English-taught degree country, applicants need an accepted English certificate; the programme lists IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 6 in each component or TOEFL iBT 79 with at least 18 in each component and its current-scale equivalents.
• Applicants may submit only one ICP Connect Scholarship application per year, must not previously have received a Belgian-government study scholarship, and must not have enrolled at a Belgian higher-education institution before 1 January of the intake year.
• Employment and professional experience are preferences, not requirements; recent graduates and private-sector candidates remain eligible with a strong profile.

Application process

   Confirm the ICP Connect nationality, residence, age and prior-scholarship conditions, then check the Master of Food Technology admission requirements.

   Apply for the Master of Food Technology through KU Leuven Admissions by the scholarship deadline; a complete eligible programme application is automatically considered for ICP Connect.

   Submit the standard master’s documents, the ICP Connect scholarship document and two recommendation letters in the required format; recommenders must email their letters from official addresses with the prescribed subject line.

   Upload the programme’s application-fee waiver PDF in the proof-of-payment category because ICP Connect applicants do not pay the application fee.

   The Programme Committee first assesses admission, then ranks 20 eligible candidates; the top ten receive programme scholarships and the remaining ranked candidates form the waiting list.
