Benefits & funding

• GMF states that it invests $50,000 / €45,455 per fellow.
• Required registration fees vary by residence and employment sector: U.S. business $8,000; U.S. nonprofit or government $5,000; Europe business €7,200; Europe nonprofit or government €2,700; Canada business CAD 10,150; Canada nonprofit or government CAD 6,525; Mexico business MXN 72,640; Mexico nonprofit or government MXN 33,480.
• GMF estimates personal travel expenses of $1,500–3,000 / €1,360–2,730 and does not provide travel health insurance.
• Financial assistance and payment plans are available for fellows who demonstrate financial need.
• The program includes virtual leadership workshops, alumni masterclasses, 24 days of arranged meetings and seminars, individual stakeholder appointments, and post-travel reflection.

Eligibility

• Applicants should have approximately 7–15 years of leadership experience, English fluency, and a demonstrated ability to analyze current events and use networks.
• Applicants must show engagement with transatlantic relations, commitment to democracy and diversity, and an intention to create sustainable change.
• A valid passport is required from Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, or Vatican City.
• The passport must remain valid for at least six months beyond the assigned travel dates. Europe-based fellows must obtain a J-1 visa using paperwork supplied by GMF.
• Fellows are typically 30–42, but GMF encourages applications from anyone at a suitable stage of professional and personal growth; this is not encoded as an age gate.
• No degree requirement or residency requirement is published. GMF staff and their family members may not apply.

Application process

   Monitor the official program page for the next annual call; the 2027 application cycle is closed.

   When the form reopens, submit a professional biography of 250 words, a résumé or CV of no more than three PDF pages, a professional headshot, and contact details for two references.

   Ensure both references submit their recommendation letters by the application deadline.

   Shortlisted candidates proceed through interviews with GMF staff, MMF alumni, and the managing director of Leadership Programs.
