The Maria Rosario Lazzati Niada Scholarship, named for a teacher who helped found a women’s education charity in Afghanistan, funds Afghan women graduates through a two-year master’s at the Geneva Graduate Institute in Switzerland.
A Steering Committee of Association Arghosha members, Institute staff and people with close ties to Afghanistan picks a candidate, who then applies to an Institute master programme in the January round.
Benefits & funding
- CHF 25,000 a year for two years.
- The second year is renewed on a first-year report showing your success.
- A fixed sum: the Institute lists master’s tuition at CHF 8,000 a year for applicants from abroad and living costs of at least CHF 2,000 a month.
Eligibility
- Afghan women.
- Must hold a university degree; Institute master’s entry asks for a bachelor’s from an accredited university by enrolment.
- The selected candidate must also be admitted to an Institute master programme, including English at CEFR C1 (e.g. IELTS 7.0, TOEFL iBT 100) unless exempt.
