The Lotus Scholarship is an annual University of the West award established in 2012 with private donations. It supports selected new students pursuing eligible undergraduate or graduate degrees at UWest.
Undergraduate awards are limited to international students in any major, while graduate awards are open to domestic and international students entering the MBA or MA Psychology programs. The eligible MA Psychology route can be completed fully online or through an in-person or hybrid format. The initial award covers one academic year beginning in the fall semester.
Benefits & funding
- International undergraduate recipients receive $6,000 for one academic year.
- Domestic or international MBA and MA Psychology recipients receive $7,000 for one academic year.
- Funds may cover tuition, mandatory fees, room and board, and other required attendance expenses, and are disbursed in fall and spring installments.
- Renewal is possible but not guaranteed; maximum eligibility is four years for first-year undergraduates, two to three years for transfer undergraduates, two years for MBA students, and two or three years for MA Psychology students.
Eligibility
- New international students entering any UWest undergraduate major need a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- New domestic or international students entering the MBA or MA Psychology program need a minimum 3.25 GPA.
- Recipients must enroll full-time: at least 12 units per semester for undergraduates or 9 units per semester for graduate students.
- International students must satisfy UWest’s English-proficiency admission requirements.
- Previous recipients may reapply if they meet the scholarship’s continuing requirements.

Application process

- 2Complete and sign the UWest Financial Aid Application for Scholarships and prepare a 500-word statement of financial circumstances.
- 3New applicants must submit the scholarship materials together with their UWest admission application.
