UZH Mobility Scholarship — Exchange made simple(r) — Cultural Exchange

Exchange made simple(r) is a mobility scholarship run by Global Student Experience, the international office of the University of Zurich (UZH). It pays a cash contribution to enrolled UZH students for whom a study exchange is not readily possible for socioeconomic reasons.

The award is decided on a documented financial situation rather than on academic ranking. Students request it inside their application for an exchange place or for SEMP traineeship funding, in Mobility Online, the university’s mobility database.

Destinations are the UZH partner universities the student is accepted to, in Europe or elsewhere in the world. The size of the award depends on whether the stay is inside or outside Europe.

Benefits & funding

Semester exchange inside Europe: 50 scholarships of CHF 1,500 expected in the current academic year.
Semester exchange outside Europe: 20 scholarships of CHF 4,000 expected in the current academic year.
Research stay or traineeship inside Europe: five months at CHF 1,000 each.
The money is a contribution towards the extra costs of the stay and comes on top of the SEMP mobility grant paid for eligible exchanges.

Eligibility

Open to students enrolled at the University of Zurich who are applying for an exchange place or for SEMP traineeship funding.
Awarded on socioeconomic grounds: the exchange must be out of reach without additional financial means.
Proof of the financial situation is required — a cantonal scholarship decision or a decision of the UZH Student Financial Aid Office, in each case less than 12 months old, or the current tax return and tax bill of the applicant and their parents.
Where parental documents cannot be supplied, the applicant’s own current tax return and tax bill are accepted with a written explanation, a declaration of any money received from parents or others, and a signature.
Scholarships granted by other bodies must be declared; in the case of double funding UZH may reduce or withdraw the amount.
No nationality, age or gender restriction is stated.

Application process

Apply in Mobility Online for an exchange place, or for funding of a SEMP traineeship, during an open application round.

Upload the documents the exchange application asks for; the section «Austausch leicht(er) gemacht» / Exchange made simple(r) appears at the end of that process.

Fill in the questionnaire on your family and financial situation.

Upload one of the accepted documents proving your financial situation.

Confirm that your information is correct and submit — only complete applications are processed.
