Kaohsiung Medical University offers this scholarship alongside admission to its degree programs in Taiwan. Awards are assigned by degree level and reviewed on merit by the International Academic Committee, with final approval by the university president.
Applicants request the scholarship while completing the online degree application. KMU runs fall and spring admissions, but the open Spring 2027 intake is limited to graduate programs.
Benefits & funding
- Type A provides NT$200,000–260,000 per year, including a monthly stipend, accommodation support and tuition; only PhD applicants may receive it.
- Type B provides NT$80,000–140,000 per year for accommodation and tuition; Master’s and PhD applicants may receive it.
- Type C provides NT$70,000–80,000 per year for tuition; undergraduate, Master’s and PhD applicants may receive it.
- Type D is set by the admitting department or institute for any degree level and cannot exceed the Type A amount.
- Awards are reviewed each academic year, and admission does not guarantee scholarship funding.
Eligibility
- Applicants must qualify for KMU admission through the international-student channel and meet the educational entry requirement for their chosen degree.
- Undergraduate entry normally requires a recognized senior-high-school credential, Master’s entry a Bachelor’s degree, and PhD entry a Master’s degree.
- The open Spring 2027 intake accepts graduate applications only.
- Undergraduate applicants may request Type C; Master’s applicants Types B or C; PhD applicants Types A, B, C or D.
- Undergraduate programs require Chinese proficiency at TOCFL A2 or equivalent, while graduate language requirements depend on the program and may require CEFR B1 English or TOCFL A2 Chinese.
- A recipient may hold only one scholarship and may not combine a KMU scholarship with another Taiwanese scholarship.

Application process
- 1Create an account on the KMU international application portal and select up to three eligible degree programs.
- 2Request the KMU International Student Scholarship while completing the online admission form.
- 3Upload the diploma, transcript, financial evidence, nationality proof, study plan, language evidence and department-specific documents.
- 4Print and sign the completed form, upload the signed copy, nominate at least two referees for each program and submit before the deadline.
