JERA Asia Scholarship — Master's Scholarship

The JERA Asia Scholarship is funded by JERA Co., Inc. and administered through the International University of Japan. IUJ nominates eligible applicants who have passed its admission screening, and JERA makes the final selection. Recipients undertake an eligible two-year master’s program on IUJ’s campus in Minamiuonuma, Japan.

IUJ describes the scholarship as supporting international students from Asian countries who can contribute to the region’s future economic development. Applicants connected to Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam are preferred, but the detailed guideline says applicants from other countries or regions are not prevented from applying.

Benefits & funding

The ¥300,000 admission fee is covered; recipients initially pay ¥50,000, which is reimbursed after enrollment.
Tuition of ¥3,200,000 per academic year is covered.
A monthly stipend of ¥150,000 is provided.
Support is normally provided for two academic years.
Recipients remain responsible for expenses outside the scholarship’s stated coverage.

Eligibility

Applicants must seek admission to an eligible two-year IUJ master’s program and be selected through IUJ’s admission process.
Applicants should register as “Non-Sponsored” and complete the scholarship section in phase two of IUJ’s online application.
Applicants must have a strong academic record, good character, and good health.
Applicants must show a serious interest in the energy business and make an effort to understand JERA’s work.
Applicants must be available for an online interview with IUJ faculty.
Applicants already granted a scholarship by another institution cannot apply for JERA support at the same time.
Japanese is not required; JLPT N4-equivalent ability is preferred, and scholars are encouraged to work toward N2.
No work-experience, age, or gender restriction is stated.
