The IOM Internship Programme gives students and recent graduates practical experience in migration-related work across the International Organization for Migration. Assignments are advertised individually for headquarters, country offices and remote teams, so duties, location, languages and dates differ by vacancy.
Interns support areas such as programme delivery, research, reporting, communications, administration and human resources while learning IOM procedures and working in multicultural teams. Benefits & funding
- Depending on experience and location, IOM may provide a small monthly stipend to help offset costs.
- A recipient of an internship allowance or scholarship that includes financial support or coursework credits is not eligible for the IOM stipend.
- IOM covers occupational accidents and illnesses under its Compensation Plan during the assignment. Interns must arrange their own insurance for non-occupational accidents and illnesses.
- IOM does not charge an application, interview, processing or training fee.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be aged 20–36 and have less than two years of relevant work experience.
- Applicants must be in the final year of a first university degree, be enrolled in a graduate programme, or have graduated from university within the previous 12 months.
- There is no single programme-wide nationality or residency restriction; each vacancy may add location, work-authorization, language, subject or other requirements.
- Applicants should have an interest in, or studies relevant to, IOM programmes and activities.
