Internship and Research Immersion in Singapore (IRIS)@NUS, run by the NUS Graduate School, places outstanding undergraduate and first-year master’s students into NUS research labs for two to three months. Selected students work on a faculty-supervised project in any discipline, gaining hands-on experience with world-class facilities and one-to-one mentorship. The program runs in two batches each year (May–July and August–October). Current NUS students are not eligible.

- Monthly stipend of SGD 1,200 (conditions apply), disbursed at the end of each month.
- Travel allowance of SGD 600 (airfare may count toward it), reimbursed within two weeks of arrival.

- Faculty mentorship and access to NUS research facilities.
- Visa support: an In-Principle Approval letter serves as the entry visa.
Eligibility
- Open to undergraduate and master’s students from all fields, worldwide (ASEAN students may be given priority).
- Undergraduates must have completed at least their first two years; master’s students must be in their first year.
- Minimum overall or major GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Must remain enrolled full-time and keep active student status at the home institution throughout the program.
- Current NUS students and graduates are not eligible.
Application process
- 1Prepare a transcript, a CV (maximum 2 pages), a personal statement, and two recommendation letters.
- 2Browse the list of projects and thesis advisors to identify a research fit.
- 3Apply through the NUS Graduate Admission System (GDA3) portal before the deadline.
- 4Await the admission decision (notified by end March for the January-deadline cycle).
