The English Opens Doors Program, run by Chile’s Ministry of Education, places international volunteers as Volunteer-Monitors in its Online Extracurricular English Workshops. Volunteers take part from wherever they live and meet their group over Zoom.
Each volunteer leads one group of roughly 10 to 20 public school students in grades 5 to 8 (5° a 8° básico), running six 60-minute sessions, one a week for six consecutive weeks. The curriculum plan and all teaching materials are supplied, so the volunteer facilitates the lessons rather than designing them.
The workshops have run since 2019 and moved online in 2020. The role is unpaid; the return is documented online English-teaching experience with a national education ministry. The 2026 round closed on 17 July 2026 and its workshops ran from 28 September to 20 November 2026.

Eligibility
- An international native or second-language English speaker.
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent certification from an accredited university; exceptions are commonly made for university students finishing their degree.
- A PC or laptop and an internet connection good enough to run online workshops.
- 1 to 2 hours free each week per group, matching the workshop schedule.
- Able to represent the Ministry of Education of Chile professionally, and to work patiently and flexibly with young learners online.
- Experience teaching or working with young people is ideal but not required.
- No nationality, residency or age restriction is stated. Workshops run Monday to Friday and 80% fall between 13:00 and 18:00 Chile time, so availability in that window is the practical constraint.
