The India School on Internet Governance (inSIG) is an annual, multi-stakeholder learning program established in 2016 and run by a consortium of seven Internet Society chapters across India. The 2026 edition is co-hosted by IIT Bombay in Mumbai from 4 to 7 September. The fellowship funds a cohort of selected participants — students, professionals, technologists, policy people, civil society and others — to attend the school, learn the fundamentals of internet governance, and join national and international discussions on how the internet is managed. Selection weighs a balanced mix of stakeholder backgrounds, gender, geography and culture.
Benefits & funding
- Waiver of the event participation fee for all selected fellows.
- Twin-sharing accommodation and meals during the school (both Indian and international fellows).
- Indian fellows: domestic travel reimbursed up to INR 10,000 against receipts; one Indian seat is reserved for a person with a disability.
