imAGEin is a joint master’s degree on the biology of ageing, coordinated by Université Côte d’Azur in Nice and delivered with the University of Cologne, Sorbonne Université, the Universidad de Sevilla and the Universidade de Coimbra.
The first year is spent at one of four universities — Nice, Cologne, Seville or Coimbra — and every student then moves to a second country for at least one semester worth 30 ECTS. Teaching, assessment and all official communication are in English, full-time.
The 120 ECTS curriculum runs over four semesters and closes with a master’s thesis internship, in a consortium laboratory or a partner institution. Graduates receive the local master certificate of each university where they enrolled.
Benefits & funding
- Erasmus Mundus scholarship of €1,400 per month for the full 24 months, covering living costs, travel, visa and installation.
- Scholarship holders pay no participation costs.
- Self-funded places cost €5,000 over two years for European students and €10,000 for non-European students, including a €1,000 non-refundable pre-registration fee deducted from year one.
- Health, liability, accident and assistance insurance is covered by the programme.
- A five-month research internship in semester 2, plus a compulsory winter school of 3 ECTS.
- Fifteen study tracks across three paths: fundamental research, applied biomedical research, innovation and biotechnology.
- Access to the five partner doctoral schools and to the Nucleate entrepreneurship programme.
Eligibility
- A bachelor’s degree of 180 ECTS or an equivalent diploma in a STEM subject; final-year students may apply and must prove completion in July.
- Proof of English no older than two years: TOEFL iBT 93 overall with every component above 22, IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 per sub-component, Cambridge C1/C2 at 180, or one semester of study taught fully in English.
- Open to applicants of every nationality.
- Full-time study only; part-time study or employment alongside the degree is strongly discouraged.
- The compulsory mobility cannot take place in a country where the applicant lived for more than 12 months before applying.
- The scholarship is closed to anyone who has already held an Erasmus Mundus award, and EU rules cap how many awards go to one nationality.

Application process
- 1Prepare passport or ID, the bachelor’s diploma with official English translation, transcripts with the GPA on a 4.0 scale, a CV of at most two pages, a motivation letter of at most 500 words, two recommendation letters in English and the English proof.
- 2Write a Personal Training Plan ranking three mobility preferences.
- 3Submit everything through the eCandidat platform before the March deadline, 23:00 Paris time; applications sent by email are rejected.
- 4Phase 1: the file is scored out of 10 on CV, motivation letter, academic marks, reference letters, the Personal Training Plan and English eligibility; 7 or above goes through.
- 5Phase 2: a 20-minute online interview with two or three members of the International Selection Committee.
- 6The final rank combines Phase 1 at 30% and Phase 2 at 70% on a 20-point scale, and decides both admission and the scholarship.
