The ILPC Summer Workshop is a three-day residential training run by the Interscholastic League Press Conference (part of Texas’s University Interscholastic League) with the Texas Association of Journalism Educators (TAJE).
High school journalism students and their advisers pick one track, such as UIL contest prep, yearbook theme, photojournalism, video storytelling or editorial leadership, and spend the weekend at Texas State University in San Marcos preparing for the coming school year.
Benefits & funding
- Instruction in one chosen track from journalism teachers and university staff, with dorm housing and meals.
- Cost: US$325 per person in a double room, US$425 in a single; covers tuition, room and board, with all meals except Saturday dinner.
- The workshop page mentions no scholarship.
Eligibility
- High school journalism students (newspaper, yearbook, broadcast, online) and their publication advisers.
- Students are registered by their school adviser, so attendance runs through a school publication staff.
- Advanced Writing & Reporting is restricted to students with at least one year of experience.
- The pages state no nationality, residence or age rule.
