IEEE WIE International Scholarship — Bachelor's Scholarship

The IEEE WIE International Scholarship is an annual award from IEEE Women in Engineering, paid for by the IEEE Foundation’s Women in Engineering Fund and open to international students.

Each year one WIE Student Member studying engineering at undergraduate level receives it. The 2026 round runs from 8 September to 8 November 2026 through IEEE’s awards portal.

Benefits & funding

A one-time cash prize of US$2,500 plus a certificate.
One award per year.

Eligibility

IEEE WIE Student Member, in at least the second consecutive year of WIE membership; non-members cannot apply.
Full-time undergraduate who has completed two years of an engineering curriculum at an accredited university or college.
GPA of at least 3.7 on a 4.0 scale, or the local equivalent.
Open to international students; the pages set no nationality or residence limit.
IEEE’s 2024 recipient announcement describes the award as going to a female WIE Student Member; the 2026 criteria list does not repeat that wording.
You may apply more than once but can win only once; self-nominations and nominations by others are both accepted.

Write a two-part essay: 1,000 words on why you want to enter engineering, 500 words on why you should receive the award.

Secure two recommendation letters: one academic, one personal.

The IEEE WIE Education and Outreach Subcommittee recommends the recipient; the IEEE WIE Committee approves.
