The IEEE Frances B. Hugle Scholarship honors engineer Frances B. Hugle and is funded by the Frances B. Hugle Scholarship Fund of the IEEE Foundation. IEEE Women in Engineering runs it.
It rewards full-time undergraduates at US colleges who have finished two years of an engineering degree. The 2026 round is open until 8 November 2026.
Benefits & funding
- A one-time award of US$2,500 per recipient, plus a certificate.
- Up to two recipients each year.
Eligibility
- IEEE Student Member at a university or college in the United States.
- Full-time undergraduate who has completed two years of study and is enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- GPA of at least 3.7 on a 4.0 scale, with evidence.
- Past applicants may reapply; no one can win twice.
- The current criteria set no gender requirement, though recipient announcements up to 2024 described it as for female Student Members.

Application process

- 2Submit two essays: 1,000 words on why you want to become an engineer and 500 words on why you should receive the scholarship.
