The IDB Group Headquarters Internship Program places university students with teams delivering operational and corporate work for public- and private-sector clients. The winter and summer cohorts take place at the Group’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., with on-site work and occasional telework.

The current 2027 winter vacancies span different professional fields but share one program calendar and core requirements. Interns gain professional-level experience through supervised work within IDB Group teams.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate applicants must be actively enrolled, have completed their second year when applying, and graduate after the internship period.
  • Graduate applicants must be actively enrolled in a master’s or PhD program, have completed at least 50% of their coursework, and graduate after the internship period.
  • Applicants must be available for the fixed 40-hour workweek from January 16 through March 15, 2027.
  • IDB positions require citizenship of one of these 48 member countries: Argentina, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela; IDB Invest positions have no citizenship restriction.
  • Applicants must not have relatives up to the fourth degree of consanguinity or second degree of affinity, including a spouse, working at IDB or IDB Invest.
  • This must be the applicant’s first IDB Group internship, with no prior service as staff, complementary workforce, contractor, or through another contractor arrangement.
