The Harvard Global Health Institute and the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health run this one-year leadership fellowship. It aims to build leaders in low- and middle-income countries who will mentor future women leaders in global health.
Fellows keep their jobs through a light virtual phase of coaching and mentorship, then spend six weeks in residence at Harvard in Cambridge, MA, for executive education, masterclasses and speaking events.
Benefits & funding
- Six-week residency covered: housing, flights to and from Cambridge, course fees, visa fees, and a daily per diem for food and transport
- A living stipend for the weeks in the United States

- A Harvard faculty mentor, with monthly meetings encouraged over 12 months

Eligibility
- Currently based or working in a low- or middle-income country, and planning to return there afterwards
- At least a master’s degree in a relevant field
- Full-time work in global health and at least 10 years’ professional experience; work done as a university student does not count
- Substantial leadership experience and further potential
- Full employer support, including six weeks’ leave in April 2028
- Able to obtain a J-1 visa and live in the Boston–Cambridge area for six weeks
- No full-time fellowship of four months or longer in the two years before arrival
- Open to all genders, disciplines and sectors

Application process
- 1Prepare a CV and a letter of intent of up to 1.5 pages.
- 2Write four essays of up to 2,000 characters each: training plan, project plan, mentoring plan, and impact on your organization, field and country.
- 3Collect an institutional commitment letter approving the April leave, a mentor commitment letter, and two further references, at least one from your current or most recent job.
