GrEnFIn is a 24-month Erasmus Mundus Joint Master that trains what the consortium calls “Sustainable Energy Experts” — graduates who can read the energy transition from the technical, economic and financial side at once. The Università di Bologna coordinates it, with Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and Université Paris Dauphine as full partners.
The degree carries 120 ECTS over four semesters and is taught in English. Students choose one of three curricula — Renewable Technologies, Environmental Finance, or Climate & Business — and each curriculum fixes its own path through the three universities.
The fourth semester is an internship or research placement at one of the universities, an associated partner or an external company, and the thesis grows out of that placement. Graduates hold three master’s diplomas, one from each partner university.
Benefits & funding
- Erasmus Mundus scholarship: a monthly allowance of €1,400 across both academic years, on top of the student participation costs, which the scholarship also covers.
- Scholarships go to the best-ranked applicants worldwide; every applicant is eligible regardless of where they come from.
- Three degrees on completion: Master Degree in Greening Energy Market and Finance (Università di Bologna), Master in Financial and Insurance Mathematics (LMU München) and Master in Economics and Finance (Université Paris Dauphine), each with a diploma supplement.
- 120 ECTS over four semesters, taught in English, including a summer school in Bertinoro run as a Blended Intensive Programme.
- Visits to stakeholders tied to the chosen curriculum, plus one distinguished guest lecturer invited for one semester each academic year and roundtables with partner organisations.
- Fourth-semester placement with a university, associated partner or company; the thesis is supervised jointly by an academic and a professional.
