The Government of the Czech Republic provides these scholarships through its foreign development cooperation programme. Recipients undertake selected full-time degree programmes at Czech public universities.
The 2026/2027 offer covered Czech-taught Bachelor’s and follow-up Master’s routes for specified countries, plus English-taught follow-up Master’s and doctoral routes for all eligible countries. The published 2026/2027 application cycle is closed, and the ministry has not published an exact opening date for the next cycle.
Benefits & funding
- The scholarship supports the standard study period and pays CZK 16,000 per month to Bachelor’s and follow-up Master’s students.
- Doctoral students receive CZK 17,000 per month.
- Czech-taught routes include a one-year Czech language and professional preparation course unless an eligible applicant already meets the stated Czech-language route requirements.
- Recipients pay accommodation, food, and public transport from the stipend. Travel to and from the Czech Republic is paid by the recipient or nominating party, and health services beyond standard care are self-funded.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus through democratic forces, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, or Jordan.
- Czech citizens, European Union citizens, and foreign nationals holding permanent residence in the Czech Republic are ineligible.
- The Czech-taught Bachelor’s route is available only to applicants from Georgia and requires completed secondary education.
- The Czech-taught follow-up Master’s route is available to applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, and Belarus through democratic forces and requires a completed Bachelor’s degree.
- English-taught follow-up Master’s and doctoral routes are available to applicants from all 12 eligible countries. They require, respectively, a completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree; English-route applicants must also take the online English test.

Application process
- 1Complete the official electronic application form by the cycle deadline and take the general knowledge test plus the English test when applying for an English-taught programme.
- 2The application is transmitted to the relevant Czech embassy; applicants selected for the next stage attend an embassy interview.
- 3The strongest candidates submit the complete required documentation by the deadline set by the embassy.
- 4Final scholarship decisions are communicated through the embassy, after which recipients complete university admission and arrival requirements for the assigned study route.
