The GAUC Climate x Immersive Summer Program is jointly organized by the GAUC Secretariat and Tsinghua University’s Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development. The 2026 program brought students from GAUC member universities to Guizhou Province, China, for academic learning and field-based climate work.

Participants joined lectures, expert discussions, site visits, team projects, and cultural exchange focused on climate action and sustainable development. The delivered cohort included 27 students from 18 countries and regions and 12 member universities.

Benefits & funding

  • The program covered tuition, local accommodation, meals, and insurance for the 2026 cohort.
  • International-flight support was capped at USD 1,500, rising to USD 2,500 for participants traveling from Brazil or South Africa.

Eligibility

  • Applicants had to be currently enrolled master’s or PhD students at a GAUC member university.
  • The 2026 call was limited to non-Chinese students because of funding requirements.
  • Applicants needed academic, research, or internship experience related to climate change or sustainability and a strong commitment to sustainability.
  • English proficiency and strong verbal communication skills were required.
