Fundación Carolina Postgraduate Scholarships 2026–2027

Benefits & funding

• The foundation and the host university pay a share of tuition, and the scholar pays the rest. In the 2026–2027 program sheets reviewed: 50% of €4,240.80 at the University of Alicante (scholar pays €2,120.40), 60% of €5,044 at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (scholar pays €2,017.68), and €2,343 of €5,044.20 at Complutense University of Madrid (scholar pays €2,701.20).
• A monthly accommodation and living allowance during the stay in Spain: €900 a month in the sheets reviewed (at Complutense, €550 from the foundation plus €350 from the university).
• A round-trip economy flight to Spain from the capital of the scholar’s country of residence.
• Medical insurance (excluding pharmacy costs) during the stay in Spain.
• Administrative fees, degree-issuance fees and any publicly mandated tuition increase fall on the scholar.
• Exact amounts differ by program; each program sheet in the catalog is controlling.

Eligibility

• Applicants must hold the nationality of one of these countries and reside in one of them: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay, Venezuela. Dual nationals may apply with the passport of an eligible country.
• A completed undergraduate degree at the time of applying, including any required thesis defense.
• An equivalent grade average (NME) declaration from Spain’s Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, uploaded before the call closes.
• Each program adds its own degree-field, language and grade requirements: for example, English B2 for English-taught programs, Spanish B1 for non-native speakers at Alicante, and an NME of 7 or higher at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
• No age limit or minimum work experience is stated.
• The award requires exclusive dedication, with no other scholarship or pay from a Spanish institution or company.
• Scholars must return to their own country or another Ibero-American country other than Spain once the award ends.
• A few lines for public officials run with OISS use a separate route open only to students already enrolled in that program.

Application process

   Register in Fundación Carolina’s applicant area and open the postgraduate catalog.

   Choose up to five postgraduate programs and rank them; only one scholarship can be awarded.

   Complete every section of the online profile (personal data, languages, education, further training, work experience, publications, other data, socioeconomic data), saving each one. The application is online only; the one upload required is the NME declaration.

   The host university preselects candidates, then a committee of university and foundation representatives plus independent specialists ranks them.

   Shortlisted candidates may be interviewed by video in Spanish and must prove the merits and grade average they declared.

   Selected candidates confirm acceptance, pay their tuition share, and send a signed acceptance letter, legalized degree and transcript, passport copy and proof of residence by the stated deadline. Some universities also run their own admission tests.
