The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, also called the Post-Doctoral Research Grant, is run by the Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (MACECE) in Rabat.

Moroccan PhD holders spend six continuous months researching at an American university or institute, then return to Morocco.

Benefits & funding

  • Round-trip economy airfare and health insurance.
  • A monthly stipend, a settling-in allowance and a professional allowance.
  • A dependents’ allowance, only if they stay with the scholar for at least 80% of the grant.
  • Six continuous months with no breaks (the MACECE home page still says 3 to 6 months).
  • Scholars pledge to return to Morocco when the grant ends.

Eligibility

  • Moroccans holding a PhD, Doctorat d’Etat or equivalent.
  • PhD holders without a teaching post may apply; those teaching at a Moroccan university or institution get priority.
