EMOTION is an EU-funded Erasmus Mundus Joint Master coordinated by Università del Piemonte Orientale (Novara, Italy) with Universidad Miguel Hernández (Elche, Spain) and Université de Namur (Belgium). It trains R&D scientists for cosmetics, dermatological drugs and medical devices.

The two-year English-taught course leads to a double degree: two semesters in Novara, a third in Elche (non-clinical track) or Namur (clinical track), then a six-month project in academia or industry.

Benefits & funding

  • Erasmus+ scholarship: up to €1,400 a month for up to 24 months; participation costs, health insurance and registration covered.
  • Scholars pay travel, visa and permit costs of the set mobility path from that monthly sum; no extra travel allowance.
  • Non-fee-paying places: no participation costs; living and travel are your own.
  • Fee-paying places: €4,500 a year (€9,000 total).
  • The FAQ says scholarships and non-fee-paying places run until the 2027-2028 academic year.

Eligibility

  • A bachelor (180 ECTS) or higher in a related field, completed and documented by the application deadline.
  • An academic background in both biology and chemistry.
  • English at B2 or above, by a certificate valid at application (two-year validity; e.g. IELTS 6.5), unless you come from a listed native-English country or took a degree fully taught in English there.
  • Past EMJM scholarship holders cannot receive an Erasmus+ scholarship.
  • Non-EU self-funded students must prove funds for the two years’ costs when applying for the visa.
  • Open to all nationalities.

Application process

    Round one (1 November 2026–31 January 2027) covers scholarships and non-fee-paying places; round two (1–31 May 2027) fee-paying places only; deadlines 23:59 CET.

    Apply online through UPO with a personal statement (max 750 words) and one reference letter dated within 12 months.

    Missing documents make an application ineligible; nothing can be added after submission.
  4. 4
    Shortlisted candidates take a video interview that opens with presenting a research paper sent in advance.
