The Swiss Study Foundation awards these scholarships with the Ernst Göhner Foundation to students training to become teachers who are in financial need. They have run since 2014 and cover future teachers at every school level, from kindergarten through gymnasium.

Only students who meet the Foundation’s own admission criteria may apply, and holders are expected to take an active part in its support program. Applicants may already be in that program or may be seeking admission to it.

The program is part of the Foundation’s wider offer of seminars and courses. Three renewable scholarships are awarded each year.

Benefits & funding

  • CHF 1,650 per month.
  • Renewable, with a maximum support period of six semesters — three years.
  • Three renewable scholarships awarded per year.
  • Holders take part in the Foundation’s support program, whose «Intellectual Tools» are two- to three-day subject seminars plus events on soft skills and personal development.

Eligibility

  • Open to students training as teachers at a recognised university or university of applied sciences.
  • All school levels count, from kindergarten to gymnasium.
  • Applicants must be in financial need.
  • Applicants must meet the Swiss Study Foundation’s admission criteria and want to take an active part in its support program.
  • Foundation admission asks for a current grade average of at least 5.3 on the Swiss scale, an age of at most 28, at least three full semesters remaining before the master’s degree, and knowledge of two Swiss official languages with the second at B1 or above.
  • No nationality or residency bar is published for the scholarship itself.

Application process

    Check the Swiss Study Foundation’s admission criteria, since only students who meet them may apply.

    Prepare the dossier using the Foundation’s templates for the curriculum vitae and the budget, published with the scholarship rules.

    Send the complete dossier as one combined PDF by email to the Foundation’s office, copying the named program contact.

    Pass the formal review of dossiers; suitable candidates are then invited to a one-day selection seminar.

    Attend the assessment, which holds individual interviews and group discussions; a specialist jury decides, and an individual feedback conversation is offered afterwards.
