The Erasmus Mundus Master in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling trains chemists and physicists to model molecules, materials and reactions with computational methods. It is run by a consortium of eight degree-awarding universities in Spain, France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands, coordinated from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Teaching is in English and the degree takes two years. The first year splits into two tracks, the second year is shared by every university, and the final semester is a master thesis built together with an associated partner institution.
Every student moves between countries at least twice, and neither mobility may sit in the country of their own nationality. The diploma is signed by all eight universities.

Eligibility
- A bachelor degree in Chemistry, Physics or Material Science, or an equivalent qualification.
- Final-year bachelor students may apply, provided the degree is finished before the master starts.
- The transcript must cover chemical bonding, atomic and molecular structure and intermolecular interactions, general physics, mathematics, general physical chemistry, thermodynamics and kinetics, and spectroscopy.
- Proof of English, either a language certificate or a Medium of Instruction certificate; the consortium names IELTS 6,5 and Cambridge B2 First as its reference levels.
- European and non-European applicants are both eligible, and no nationality is excluded.
- Anyone who has already held an Erasmus Mundus scholarship cannot receive a second one.
- Two mobility periods in two different countries are compulsory, and neither may be the country of the student’s nationality.

Application process
- 1Wait for the call to open at the end of October, then register on the application portal at emtccm.org.
- 2Upload a Europass CV, a valid passport or national ID, academic transcripts, proof of residence, a photograph, an English or Medium of Instruction certificate and a motivation letter.
- 3Ask two referees to send reference letters.
- 4Submit the complete file before the call closes in early February.
- 5The International Pedagogical Committee reads and ranks every application.
- 6Top-ranked candidates are invited to interview, after which the committee meets again and decides.
- 7Accepted candidates hear by email in March or April; a preliminary list of self-funded students is drawn up at the same time.
