The International Brain Bee lists Costa Rica as a participating national chapter and names Georgina Grillo as its coordinator. The national competition is a pathway for high-school students to test their neuroscience knowledge.

Each National Brain Bee sets its own format, and the national winner qualifies for the IBB World Championship. Costa Rica will not hold a competition in 2026, and no later cycle has been announced.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be high-school students and participate through the Brain Bee in their country of residence.
  • No nationality restriction is published, but residence in Costa Rica is the relevant route for this national competition.
  • IBB notes that National Champions may not be older than 19 to enter the World Championship; Costa Rica-specific age rules are not published.
  • A student may enter only one Local Brain Bee and one National Brain Bee in a given year.
