The Chinese Trade Unions Silk Road Scholarship is a one-year, Chinese-taught language scholarship funded by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. Beijing Language and Culture University delivers the program in Beijing for trade union officials.

The scheme supports international trade-union links and Chinese-language learning. Applications use the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System under Type A with agency number 00009.

  • University accommodation is covered, with a listed value of RMB 8,400.
  • The stipend is RMB 36,000 for the program.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance is covered at a listed value of RMB 800.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be citizens of a country other than China; applicants from Belt and Road countries are preferred rather than exclusively eligible.
  • Applicants must be in sound physical and mental health.
  • Applicants must hold at least a high school certificate and be younger than 45.
  • At least one year of work experience is required; experience involving China is preferred.
  • Applicants cannot concurrently hold another Chinese Government Scholarship.

Application process

    Confirm the receiving route with the relevant trade union or participating organization.

    Prepare the documents required by the program instructions.

    Register in the CSC Study in China system, select Type A, and enter agency number 00009.

    Apply as a General Scholar for Chinese-taught Literature and Chinese Language at Beijing Language and Culture University, leaving the second and third institution preferences unused.
  5. 5
    Enter the study period as September 1 of the intake year through July 15 of the following year, review the form, submit it, and download the completed application form.
