The China-AUN Scholarship supports citizens of ASEAN member states to pursue master’s or doctoral degrees at universities in China. The ASEAN University Network administers applications in cooperation with the China Scholarship Council, with financial support from China’s Ministry of Education.
The annual program offers 30 full scholarships and permits Chinese-taught or English-taught study where available. The 2026/27 application cycle is closed, and successful candidates have been announced.
Benefits & funding
- Tuition fees are covered.
- Recipients receive a university dormitory place or an accommodation subsidy.
- Master’s students receive CNY 3,000 per month; doctoral students receive CNY 3,500 per month.
- Comprehensive medical insurance is CNY 800 per person per year, or CNY 400 for programs shorter than six months.
- Funding covers up to three academic years for a master’s degree or four academic years for a doctorate, including major study and Chinese-language study.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be citizens of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, or Vietnam and be in good physical and mental health.
- Master’s applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and be under 35 when applying.
- Doctoral applicants must hold a master’s degree or equivalent and be under 40 when applying.
- Chinese-taught applicants must have passed HSK Level 4.
- English-taught applicants must have IELTS or TOEFL evidence.
- Applicants must also meet the chosen university’s language and academic admission requirements.
