Brain Bee Chile is the national neuroscience competition for high-school students in Chile. Universidad Diego Portales leads the Chilean program with International Brain Bee backing; the 2026 cycle was organized with Universidad de Chile and supported by the Chilean Society for Neuroscience.

Participants complete a national knowledge selection process. In 2026, 42 students from 11 regions entered preselection, 10 advanced to specialist training, and the national champion earned the right to represent Chile at the International Brain Bee World Championship.

Benefits & funding

  • Participation is free; Brain Bee Chile states that it will not request money from participants or their families in the program’s name.
  • The 10 finalists in the 2026 cycle received specialist neuroscience training with researchers and academics.
  • The national champion receives recognition from Brain Bee Chile and represents Chile at the International Brain Bee World Championship.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be high-school students aged 14–19, and the national champion may not be older than 19 at the international competition.
  • Students compete through the Brain Bee in their country of residence, so this national route requires residence in Chile; no nationality restriction is stated.
  • Applicants under 18 need authorization from at least one parent or legal guardian.
  • Preselected students and the winner must take part in in-person, remote, and independent preparation.
