The Iran National Brain Bee is the country’s annual neuroscience competition for school students. The Iranian Neuroscience Society runs it with Synapse Scientific Group as the official national organizer.
The 2027 cycle opens with an online multiple-choice exam, followed by an in-person second stage in Tehran. Iran’s national winner represents the country at the International Brain Bee World Championship, held in the United States in 2027.
Benefits & funding
- National first, second and third place each receive a trophy, a certificate and a prize worth 14,000,000, 11,000,000 or 9,000,000 toman respectively.
- The national winner goes on to the 2027 IBB World Championship in the United States.
- At the world championship every competitor gets a certificate; the top three win US$3,000, US$2,000 and US$1,000 and a medal.
- Entry costs 250,000 toman and is not refunded after successful registration; the two Persian study books are sold separately.
Eligibility
- School students aged 13–18, born between 1 Mordad 1387 and 1 Mordad 1393 (Iranian calendar); university students cannot enter.
- IBB rules place students in the Brain Bee of their country of residence, so this route is for students living in Iran; no nationality rule is stated.
- Students from every province may enter, as the first stage is fully online.
- Entering more than one Local or National Brain Bee in the same year leads to disqualification.

- 1Register and pay the 250,000-toman fee on the official Synapse registration page by 30 Bahman 1405 (19 February 2027).
- 2Sit the online first stage: 60 multiple-choice questions in Persian, with negative marking, at one fixed time.
- 3If selected, attend the second stage in Tehran: multiple-choice and short written answers, clinical or scenario stations and oral questions, using English texts (a dictionary is allowed).
- 4The national winner competes at the world championship in English.
