The Beit Cambridge Scholarship supports Master’s study at the University of Cambridge and is jointly offered by Cambridge Trust and The Beit Trust. It is tenable at any Cambridge College and in any subject except premium-rate courses.
The partnership normally makes two awards each year. The next Beit application window is for the UK academic year beginning in September 2027.
Benefits & funding

- An annual living allowance sufficient for one person.
- Student visa, Immigration Health Surcharge, tuberculosis test and biometric costs.
- Economy travel to the United Kingdom and return travel to the scholar’s country of residence.
- Arrival and departure allowances, plus a laptop allowance when requested.
- No support for spouses or dependants.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be nationals and permanent residents of Malawi, Zambia, or Zimbabwe and must live in or intend to return to one of those countries after study.
- Applicants need a recognised undergraduate degree equivalent to at least a good degree; the Beit Trust says applicants should hold First-Class or Upper Second-Class Honours, or an equivalent qualification.
- The award is for a one-year taught Master’s course in the United Kingdom; applicants who have already started the course are ineligible.
- Cambridge excludes MBA, EMBA, Global EMBA, MFin and MAcc courses, along with other premium-rate courses.
- Applicants who already hold a postgraduate degree are generally not considered, except in exceptional cases.
- Relevant work experience is preferred but three years is guidance, not a mandatory general minimum. Medical and veterinary applicants must have completed an 18-month internship and at least one year of in-country posting.
- Beit Trust and University of Cambridge employees, their relatives, and former employees who left less than two years earlier are ineligible.

Application process
- 1Select an eligible Cambridge Master’s course and apply for admission by that course’s funding deadline, indicating the wish to be considered for funding.
- 2Obtain a Cambridge offer; conditional offers are accepted for the separate Beit application.
- 3Prepare degree records, a CV, a passport copy, a recent photograph, evidence of the offer, a personal statement of no more than 300 words, and the required references.
- 4Submit the separate Beit Trust application during the published window.
- 5If shortlisted, attend the required in-person interview in Lusaka, Harare, or Blantyre.
