The Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) is the East-West Center’s leadership development program for mid-career professionals from across the Indo-Pacific.
The 2027 cohort runs June–September 2027: a virtual phase, a residency with field work in Hawaiʻi, then a closing virtual phase. Its theme is the global and geoeconomic trends shaping economic security, including energy, food, health and AI.
Benefits & funding
- Residential training in Hawaiʻi plus two virtual phases, and entry to an alumni network of 700+ people from 45 countries.
- Estimated cost US$11,753: program fee US$8,500, campus housing US$1,353 (37 nights), living expenses about US$1,900.
- Airfare and visa fees are not included; supplementary scholarships can help cover the program fee.
Eligibility
- Any nationality; no citizenship, age or ethnicity restrictions.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited US institution, or an equivalent full-time degree of at least 3 years from a recognized institution abroad.
- At least 5 years of work experience.
- Fluent English.
- A demonstrated commitment to peace and prosperity in the Asia Pacific region, shown through work, study or living experience.
