Alexia Vision Grant for Students — Fellowship

The Alexia Vision Grant for Students supports college-level photographers and filmmakers creating documentary projects on significant issues. The Alexia at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School runs the annual international competition.

Applicants may propose a planned project or one already underway, and the work should build understanding or inspire change. The recipient is expected to make meaningful progress within one year and deliver at least 20 high-resolution images or a high-resolution film file.

$2,000 to advance the proposed project.
A Sony camera and lens.
Tuition and fees to audit three courses during one semester at the Newhouse School.
Automatic acceptance to the Eddie Adams Workshop unless the recipient has attended previously.
Consideration for a paid research-assistant position with The Alexia chair.
Student applications are free.

Eligibility

Applicants must be actively pursuing studies at a college, university, community college or photography center when applying, or must have graduated in 2025 for the 2026 cycle.
Undergraduate, master’s and PhD students may apply when actively pursuing their studies; proof of enrollment or recent graduation is required.
Applicants may be based in any country, with no published nationality or residency restriction.
Each person may submit only one application in a cycle.
