Aker Cambridge Scholarship — Master's Scholarship

The Aker Cambridge Scholarship supports full-time Master’s and PhD study at the University of Cambridge. Cambridge Trust offers it with the Anne Grete Eidsvig and Kjell Inge Røkke Charitable Foundation for Education, and recipients may study any subject at any Cambridge College.

Applicants must qualify through Norwegian nationality or a strong connection to Norway and study on campus in Cambridge. The award is tied to admission to an eligible postgraduate course and follows that course’s normal length.

Annual maintenance sufficient for one person.
Student visa and Immigration Health Surcharge costs.
Lowest-cost economy travel to the UK at the start of study and back to the recipient’s country of residence at the end.
About 10 awards are listed for 2026/27; PhD recipients may request up to six additional months of maintenance for an optional writing-up period.

Eligibility

Prospective full-time Master’s or PhD applicants in any subject at the University of Cambridge.
Applicants must be Norwegian or have a strong connection to Norway. A non-citizen route requires several years of residence in Norway and fluent Norwegian.
Study must be full-time and campus-based; online, part-time and exchange study are not supported.
Applicants already part-way through the degree are not eligible. Master’s applicants must complete a Bachelor’s degree no later than the summer after applying.
Academic strength and a demonstrated wish to contribute to society are selection criteria; there is no fixed grade threshold or age limit.

Application process

Register in the Aker application system and submit the online application by September 12, 2026.

Include a CV, grades, references, at least two recommendation letters and other relevant documents. PhD applicants also submit a project description, normally 4–10 pages.

Shortlisted applicants attend an interview and their references are contacted. The strongest candidates may receive a conditional scholarship commitment.

Apply for Cambridge admission by the funding deadline for the chosen course, opt into funding in the Applicant Portal and complete the additional fund questions.

If admitted to an eligible Cambridge course and the place is accepted, Aker confirms the award.
