The Aker Cambridge Scholarship funds full-time Master’s and PhD study at the University of Cambridge. Cambridge Trust offers it with the Anne Grete Eidsvig and Kjell Inge Røkke Charitable Foundation for Education.
Recipients may study any non-premium-rate subject at any Cambridge College. Support follows the course length.
Benefits & funding
- International-rate tuition and annual maintenance sufficient for one person.
- Student visa and Immigration Health Surcharge costs.
- Lowest-cost economy travel to the UK and back to the recipient’s country of residence.
- Around 10 awards are listed for 2026/27; PhD recipients may request up to six extra months of writing-up maintenance.
- Aker supplements other support so recipients normally avoid study loans, with no binding post-study work obligation.
Eligibility
- Prospective full-time Master’s or PhD applicants in any non-premium-rate subject at Cambridge.
- Applicants must be Norwegian, or have lived in Norway for several years and speak Norwegian fluently; Norwegian citizenship is not required for the second route.
- Study must be full-time and campus-based; online, part-time and exchange study are excluded.
- Applicants already part-way through the degree are ineligible; Master’s applicants must finish a Bachelor’s degree by the summer after applying.
- Applicants must be academically strong and want to contribute to society; there is no fixed grade threshold or upper age limit.

Application process

- 2Submit a CV, grades, references, at least two recommendation letters and relevant documents; PhD applicants also provide a 4–10-page project description.
- 3If shortlisted, attend an interview; Aker will contact references.
- 4Apply to Cambridge by the course-specific funding deadline and opt into funding; Aker confirms the scholarship after an eligible offer is accepted.
