The AIAS Visiting Fellowships bring researchers from international institutions to the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies at Aarhus University. Fellows spend two to six months working from AIAS during a sabbatical and collaborate with research environments at Aarhus University.
The program welcomes all academic disciplines and integrates visitors into AIAS academic and social activities. For the spring 2027 call, applicants choose exact dates from February through the end of July 2027.
Benefits & funding
- The fellowship pays no salary; successful applicants are expected to retain salary support from their home institution.
- AIAS covers one return economy ticket to Aarhus, with the amount subject to prior approval.
- Fellows receive office space, access to lecture and meeting rooms, academic and social activities, event support, and practical relocation assistance.
Eligibility
- Applicants must hold a PhD and have at least four years of postdoctoral research experience by the application deadline.
- Applicants must be researchers from international institutions who are taking a sabbatical.
- Applicants should have an active Aarhus University collaboration and established contact with an AU researcher or research community.
- All academic disciplines are eligible, and AIAS publishes no nationality, residency, age, or gender restriction.

- 2Prepare an English application with a motivation letter of no more than two pages, the AU support letter, a CV with selected publications of no more than five pages, a PhD diploma, and exact preferred dates.
