The AEON Scholarship supports newly enrolling international students in two-year master’s programs at the International University of Japan in Minami Uonuma, Japan. IUJ screens and nominates candidates, while AEON 1% Club makes the final selection.
Recipients study full time on campus and are expected to be interested in next-generation retail and related industries. The scholarship also seeks students willing to connect Japan with their home country after graduation.
Benefits & funding
- Full tuition for an eligible two-year program, listed by IUJ as ¥3,200,000 per academic year.
- ¥250,000 toward the ¥300,000 admission fee; the recipient pays the remaining ¥50,000 by IUJ’s designated deadline.
- ¥100,000 monthly stipend.
- Prior approval from AEON 1% Club is required before taking a paid internship.
- Funding can be terminated if the recipient does not maintain the required academic standard.
Eligibility
- Be a privately funded student planning to enter the first year of a full-time, two-year master’s program in IUJ’s Graduate School of International Relations or Graduate School of International Management.
- Be outside Japan and not yet have arrived in Japan when applying for the scholarship.
- Hold citizenship of Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand or Vietnam.
- Be able to obtain Japanese Student residence status by enrollment.
- Be age 30 or younger on April 1, 2026 for the most recently published cycle.
- Not receive a scholarship from another foundation; grants limited to travel or admission expenses do not count as another scholarship.
- Prove Japanese proficiency equivalent to JLPT N3 or above and be able to attend the AEON Scholarship certificate ceremony in 2027.
- Be willing to serve as a bridge between Japan and the home country after graduation and have a strong interest in retail, medical sales, services, finance, commerce, real estate development, agriculture, fisheries, IT or the environment.
- Have strong academic performance and character, demonstrate genuine financial need, keep monthly living expenses excluding tuition below ¥100,000, and need part-time work.
- Be able to conduct student life without violating public order or accepted standards of conduct.
