The ACES Political Economy Summer School is an annual workshop organized by the Association for Comparative Economic Studies. The 2026 school brings PhD students to Kathmandu for three days of instruction, mentoring, research feedback, and networking. Its academic focus spans political economy, economic history, and development economics.

Benefits & funding

  • There is no fee to apply or attend.
  • ACES provides accommodation and at least one meal per day.
  • ACES may try to offset some travel costs, especially for students from low-income countries, but travel funding is not guaranteed.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be PhD students interested in political economy, economic history, or development economics.
  • The official call states no nationality, residency, age, or work-experience restriction.
  • Participation is in person in Kathmandu, Nepal.
