Geneva Centre for Security Policy

Application Deadline

Closed · February 7, 2025

Official Page

The Geneva Centre for Security Policy offered this scholarship for its 25th New Issues in Security Course, held in Geneva from 5 May to 27 June 2025. The U.S. Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva sponsored the scholarship.

The course covered new and re-emerging security challenges, human security, links among security issues and forward-looking approaches. Graduates joined GCSP’s international alumni community. This record covers the closed 2025 call; the official scholarship page does not announce another cycle.

Benefits & funding

  • A scholarship for participation in the two-month New Issues in Security Course.
  • Training on contemporary security threats, professional tools, responses to emerging challenges and professional networking.
  • GCSP did not publish the scholarship amount or its covered expenses on the call page. Its general FAQ describes residential-course scholarships as limited and partial, and says accommodation, food and transportation are normally paid by participants.

Eligibility

  • Applicants had to be female professionals holding the citizenship of a Global South country; the application form asked candidates to confirm this.
  • GCSP published no list of qualifying countries. The eligible-nationality list on this record applies the standard reading of the term: the sovereign states of Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Pacific, other than Japan, Israel, the Republic of Korea, Australia and New Zealand. A candidate from a country outside that grouping would have had to confirm eligibility with GCSP.
  • The scholarship targeted mid-career international peace and security practitioners working in a national ministry, international organisation or civil society.
  • Applicants needed proven professional experience in international security, but GCSP did not state a minimum number of years.
  • No degree, age or residency threshold was published.
