Youth Peace Camp 2025 was the Council of Europe youth sector’s flagship activity for dialogue and peacebuilding. It brought young people from specified conflict-affected communities to the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg for experiential learning in human rights, intercultural learning and conflict transformation.

Participants learned with peers from other conflict settings, shared coping and youth-work practices, and developed follow-up peacebuilding initiatives for their home communities. The 2025 cycle ran from 30 June to 9 July and is now closed.

Benefits & funding

  • The Council of Europe reimbursed travel expenses and visa fees under its rules for participants who attended the entire camp.
  • Full board and lodging at the European Youth Centre were provided and paid for by the Council of Europe.
  • The venue could accommodate disability-related needs when disclosed in the application.
  • Follow-up initiatives could receive institutional and educational support and, where possible, financial support during 2025–2026.

Eligibility

  • Applicants had to be from Bosnia and Herzegovina; Greek-speaking or Turkish-speaking communities in Cyprus; Albanian-speaking or Serbian-speaking communities in Kosovo; conflict-affected regions or ethnic communities in the South Caucasus; or communities on both banks of the Nistru/Dniestr.
  • Applicants normally had to be 18–25; exceptional applicants could be considered up to age 30.
  • Applicants needed enough English to complete the form independently and participate fully.
  • Full availability was required for the working days from 1 to 8 July, together with motivation to apply human-rights, democracy and peacebuilding approaches and implement a follow-up youth initiative.
  • Connection to an organisation, network, institution or formal or informal group able to support participation and follow-up work was preferred, not mandatory.
  • No degree or work-experience requirement was published.
