The World Health Summit (WHS) Stipend & Fellowship Program covers the travel and participation costs of up to 15 people so they can attend the annual World Health Summit in Berlin, Germany. The summit is one of the world’s leading forums on global health, convening leaders from politics, science, the private sector, and civil society. The program is aimed at people who hold the nationality of and reside in a low- or middle-income country, or who bring lived experience in global health contexts. The 2026 edition is made possible with support from the Wellcome Trust. Recipients are chosen by lottery, with multiple drawings if needed to ensure diverse regional representation.
Benefits & funding
- Round-trip economy-class flights to and from Berlin
- Four nights of hotel accommodation with breakfast (10–14 October 2026), within walking distance of the summit venue
- Full World Health Summit 2026 registration, including sessions, food, and beverages
- Up to €200 reimbursement for local transport and miscellaneous expenses
- Up to €200 reimbursement for visa and passport costs
- Invitation to the Kick-Off Reception on 10 October 2026
- Up to 15 participants are selected; the program is supported by the Wellcome Trust
Eligibility
- Hold the nationality of and reside in a low- or middle-income country (per the World Bank classification 2025–2026), or have lived experience in global health contexts
- Demonstrate active engagement in global health through professional work, advocacy, or community work
- Be fluent in English (the conference language)
- Be eligible to apply for a short-term Schengen visa
- No specific degree, age, or minimum years-of-experience requirement is stated
